The ‘Best Amplifier/Data Converter of the Year’ – RS010X Level Translator Family
Level translator (level shift) is different from voltage converter in power management systems. Level translator is designed to help system designers interconnect devices operating on different voltage rails that have different IO voltage levels. For examples, GPIO of MCU works at 3.3V while GPIO of DSP works at 1.8V, therefore level translator is needed for communication between the two devices.
Runic Technology’s RS010X Level Translator family includes 1-bit RS0101, 2-bit RS0102, 4-bit RS0104, and 8-bit RS0108. It works with interfaces such as I2C, UART, SPI, I2S, Bus, GPIO, etc., and is compatible with push-pull or open-drain outputs.
Main features:
Ø No direction-control signal needed
Ø Maximum data rates: 24Mbps (push-pull) or 2Mbps (open-drain)
Ø 1.65V to 5.5V on A port and 2.3V to 5.5V on B port
Ø Vcc isolation between A port and B port
Ø No power-supply sequencing required
Ø Temperature range: -40°C~+85°C

It is worth to mention that supply voltage VCCA cannot be higher than VCCB, which means Port A should be connected to low voltage system and Port B should be connected to high voltage system.
The RS010X family is available in various packages in order to meet different design and system requirements. RS0101 is available in SOT23-6, SC70-6 and DFN packages; RS0102 is available in SOT23-8, VSSOP and DFN packages; RS0104 is available in TSSOP, QFN3.5x3.5 and QFN 2x2 packages and RS0108 is available in TSSOP and QFN3x3 packages.
Runic Technology’s RS010X series of level translators have received the ‘Best Amplifier/Data Converter of the Year’ award at the ‘2021 China IC Design Awards’.
